Refreshing Moroccan mint tea…recipe from our Spring Summer shoot!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

A revitalizing burst of fresh mint leaves and great to sip in the Springtime sunshine.

As mint is a easy to grow herb and a staple in the spring garden…what better way to celebrate spring than to prepare some mint tea!

tastey moroccan tea loving freshness...

tastey moroccan tea loving freshness...

Step by step:

* Take a sprig of 10 + sprigs and crush in the bottom of a tea glass with a pestle or similar mashing weapon.

* This releases the lovely tastey flavour and herby aromas.

* Add a spoonful of suger and/or honey to taste.

* Sprinkle with hot water

= tea for 1

or add mint instead of coffee to a cafetiere and repeat as above

= tea for everyone

or follow the below for the Havana summer soaked cocktail MOJITO…enjoyed by Ernest Hemingway:

* Place 6-8 fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a tumbler glass and crushing device (pestle if you have one)

* Add one freshly squeezed lime juice to 2 parts RUM

* A sprinkling of sugar to taste and topped with sparkling water or tonic

= laid back drink to finish a hectic week

And even better served in some pretty Moroccan glasses, below are some i picked up on my Moroccan road trip last year!!!

Pretty Moroccan glasses that sit on my shelf in the office and look pretty and brighten up my space....vibrant colours of Morocco!

The soft and snuggly blankets that appear in our Autumn/Winter photoshoot are by fellow Cornish textiles business the Natural Fibre Company

Sue Blacker and her team create beautiful heirlooms – throws, blankets and cushions as well as scarves and wraps from their specialist mill near Launceston.

The fleeces that go to make the yarns come from British sheep which are well-looked after by experienced farmers. With some of their products, you can even trace the fleece back to the exact flock it came from!

Sue shares EKO Sense’s passion for finding great fabrics and natural materials to create gorgeous clothes and accessories.

She says: “Materials are an important part of any design processd: designers are inspired by where the fabrics come from and the story behind them. Here at The Natural Fibre Company we have various types of wool, all with the potential to be the garment that puts a Cornish designer on the map.”

Sue has been a great support for the EKO Sense team as we launch our brand. We hope to work with the Natural Fibre Company more and more to show some of the great design work going in Cornwall.

Strawberry Leisure's Cali girl Lola

Strawberry Leisure's Cali girl Lola

We were lucky enough to get our paws on the gorgeous Lola for our EKO Sense Autumn Winter shoot.

Her owners, Bob and Kate at Strawberry Leisure, say she’s one of a kind in the UK and we certainly agree!

Before she lent her sleek curves and timeless luxury to our beach shoot, the split-screen Volkswagen was a resident of sunny California.

Lola, as we now know her, was born in 1964 and is what is known as a Kombi variant of the splittie  – thought to be the only one in the UK to have an original ragtop sunroof.

For Vee Dub enthusiasts (like EKO Sense’s marketing monkey Rachel likes to think she is) it’s all about the special features!

When she’s not gracing the pages of the EKO Sense catalogue, Lola likes to transport excited brides to their big day.

Check out the Strawberry Leisure pages to meet her friends Lulu, Lizzie and Lenny. www.strawberryleisure.com
